A Quaker Meeting in Dutchess County, New York
Bulls Head-Oswego Friends Meeting
Scenes from our meeting
Zoom meeting for worship
Above shows when we were meeting entirely on zoom during the pandemic. Now we include a zoom component to our hybrid worship every Sunday.
Our community
In addition to our meetings for worship we host occasional potlucks and have a variety of after-meeting programs.
Potlucks
We eat well.
After-meeting hospitality
Sometimes we have a meal together, sometimes just baked goods and other treats along with coffee and tea.
Library
If you want to know more about Quakerism or religion, or the history of our meeting, there's plenty of material in our lovely little library.
Outdoor worship
During the pandemic, for a long time we felt it unwise to meet indoors, so we met via zoom in cold weather and outdoors at the meeting house when it was warm. It was a pleasant and even welcome change.
Sunday meeting for worship
We're back in the meeting house now, and while we've added a technology element, it's still a very spiritually-enriching gathering each week.
We're not alone
The wildlife just outside the meeting house door can sometimes surprise us. One day we found a walking stick on the door. Another day we were surprised to see the bush just outside our gathering room filled with tiny frogs! None of us had ever seen anything like it.
Our history
The roots go way way back. This area was a major center of Quaker culture in the 19th century.
